Artistic Vision

At the core of my artistry lies an unwavering commitment to transformation—of sound, of understanding, and of society itself. Whether on the conductor’s podium or through composition, I view music not as an isolated art form but as a force for change, a means to illuminate truth, bridge divides, and uplift the human experience.

My journey has been one of relentless evolution, shaped by the great orchestras and institutions that have entrusted me with their sound and by the other musicians who have guided my path. From the grandeur of the BBC Symphony to the intimate dialogue of chamber ensembles, my work is driven by a deep reverence for tradition, an insatiable curiosity for innovation, and a steadfast belief in music as a vehicle for justice, equity, and storytelling.

As a conductor, I seek to unearth the raw emotional essence of a score, forging deep, honest connections between musicians and audiences. As a trumpeter, I honor both the instrument’s heroic brilliance and its lyrical introspection. As a scholar and advocate, I wield the power of research and narrative to confront the urgent challenges of our time, from climate policy to political discourse. Each facet of my work is inextricably linked, reflecting a belief that the arts must not only inspire but also serve as a catalyst for dialogue and transformation.

From my earliest studies in Edinburgh to Carnegie Hall and beyond, I have been drawn to the confluence of tradition and reinvention, of history and the present moment. Whether conducting the orchestras of today or composing the narratives of tomorrow, I remain devoted to an artistic practice that embraces metamorphosis, honors truth, and fosters a more just and compassionate world.
